What is video marketing?
Video marketing is, as the word suggests, a marketing message that is shown to potential customers via a video. You can see an example of video marketing for INBOUND CPH right here, where Henning explains how we work, with the aim of potential customers contacting us to make an appointment:
This video is posted on YouTube, but it's not the only medium that can handle videos.
Once a marketing video has been produced, it can be digitally uploaded to websites, your blog Facebook, LinkedIn, Snapchat, YouTube etc.
The advantage of uploading videos to social media sites like Instagram and Facebook is that this type of marketing typically reaches further. This means your ad reaches a wider audience and viewers are more likely to interact with your message in the form of likes, comments and shares.

Video marketing guide - how to get started
Getting started with video marketing is not as difficult as many would think. Don't worry about the proverbial video block (as we call it), which is about not being able to come up with ideas for cool videos. Take a piece of paper and write down all your ideas, even the ones you think are too silly, or the ones that might go a bit over the top!
You can choose to contact a video marketing agency to help you record your video, but you don't have to because you can easily do it yourself. In fact, you don't need to go out and buy the latest video equipment either, as creating "home-made" videos has become quite popular, as it exudes a certain kind of eye-level customer experience.
Planning is important though!
Here we have mentioned some of the most important elements that you need to achieve a good video production that lives up to your marketing strategy.
- Remember your audience
Remember who it is that you want to communicate to. What are they interested in? How do you convince them to buy from you? What language should you use in the video to match theirs? etc. - Make your message clear
If you spread yourself too thin, you risk your audience not getting the point of your video. Make sure you stick to a specific topic. It's okay if you have a lot on your mind, but save it for the next video. Your customers would rather watch multiple videos, with different messages than be bombarded with them all in one. - Tell a story
We humans love stories! If you can tell your message through a story, more people will listen. This could be through a case, a customer situation, a funny clipboard story or something else. If you can even get viewers to trine, think or empathise with something in your story, then you're well on your way to producing stellar content in your videos.
Try, evaluate and try again
Video marketing online, like many other things, is something you have to try out. If the first video doesn't go your way, don't give up. Learn from what went wrong and try again with your corrections. For example, you might need to change the time of the shoot, change the script, find a new location or something else.
