 A pilot project turned into four markets in three months

Talentech is the leading HR tech provider in the Nordics. With a tailored digital tool that helps customers with everything from attraction, recruitment, onboarding, talent management, retention and offboarding. They have offices in seven countries, more than 200 employees across +30 nationalities, and more than 2300 companies currently use the Talentech platform.

Imran Afzal is Marketing Director at Talentech. His team consists of six soon to be seven employees, covering three local marketing managers (Norway, Denmark, Sweden), and two soon to be three resources distributed over Product Marketing, Digital/Web Marketing and soon Performance Marketing. Everyone in the team has direct contact with the specialists in InboundCPH.

When Imran Afzal joined Talentech back in 2021, there were more than 15 employees in the team. And each country had their own marketing team consisting of 3-4 people who ran their marketing individually. As a result, there were huge differences in marketing across the organization and almost no economies of scale across countries. The way marketing investments were prioritized left some opportunities to use the budget more efficiently, and Imran Afzal wanted to take advantage of this.

His goal was to centralize marketing into one place that would complement a marketing manager in each country in the future. To succeed, he needed specialist skills in several digital areas, which is why he reached out to InboundCPH.

The results of the collaboration with InboundCPH have been unmistakable. "In SEO, we're flying straight to the top, and we're also at a distance from our competitors. And we still are today because of the solid work we have done over the past few years," says Imran Afzal.

How the collaboration grew big

01 Situation: Low-hanging fruit made the difference at the top

Based on a technical pre-analysis and a joint workshop, we agreed that there was a lot of untapped digital potential at Talentech. There had not previously been an organized effort on SEO, advertising or marketing automation, despite a collaboration with another agency. And the marketing team at Talentech was extremely dedicated to our joint efforts.

The employees who have been with Talentech for several years were enthusiastic about the process. "We haven't gotten this kind of advice before. And the employees here have not been part of such an organized digital process before," says Imran Afzal.

We started with a pilot project in Denmark, where we experienced good results together. In the pilot project, we focused on visibility - including dedicated work with SEO and specific keywords, which InboundCPH advised on.

"InboundCPH advises us on keywords and how we can compete on them - and here we clearly see the biggest effect to start with. On SEO, we fly straight to the top and are also at a distance from our competitors. And we still are today because of the solid work we have done over the past few years," says Imran Afzal.

The collaboration agreement was initially limited to SEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads and LinkedIn Ads.

02 Process: Three months of results across four markets

We then copied the process to the other markets. We kicked off with a pre-analysis, a joint workshop, and made the optimal adjustments to ensure that visibility was also felt across countries.

It took a total of three months for InboundCPH and Talentech to collaborate on digital efforts across all markets at Talentech.

The process has embraced different marketing disciplines throughout the collaboration, where Talentech, among other things, produced a brand video that was used for advertising. We have worked dedicatedly to create marketing qualified leads (MQL) and generally optimized their set-up continuously. This has yielded good results across efforts. Among other things, we have experienced really nice lead prices through Meta Ads.

"We also started to see good results with retargeting, especially on Meta. Among other things, we target ads to previous visitors to the website, and we haven't used this option before. And this is due to the advice from InboundCPH", Imran Afzal points out.

 The advice and the close, ongoing dialog are two of the qualities that are repeatedly highlighted as central to the good collaboration. This also resulted in InboundCPH hiring one of Imran Afzal's employees during the collaboration.

"Unfortunately, I had to say goodbye to a talented employee due to the organizational change we made, but InboundCPH simply found a vacant chair for her, which also meant that we could continue the fantastic collaboration with her. I think that really shows how sincere our collaboration is," says Imran Afzal.

While the results of working with Talentech have been undeniable, we also agree that it takes a lot of testing, evaluation and continuous dialog to keep improving.

Imran Afzal compares the process to what it's typically like when you want to lose weight. In the beginning, it might go really fast, but the subsequent kilos just get harder and harder to get rid of. And it's the same with performance marketing," he says. "In the beginning, the results are overwhelming, but then it really requires discipline and small, continuous adjustments to keep experiencing better results than before. It's only natural," he says.

 03 Result: It's thanks to InboundCPH that we are now taking the leap

"InboundCPH has done a crazy good job and they have opened the doors to a lot of digital disciplines that we were in no way specialized in when we started," says Imran Afzals.

"We're still not. But we feel digitally mature now, so after two years of working with InboundCPH, we have decided to dedicate a full-time position to the performance marketing area, which is in many ways InboundCPH's merit," he concludes.

Talentech is challenging itself to take on both strategy and execution in performance marketing, but Imran Afzal is also very honest about where to get the strategic knowledge if they get into trouble.

"It's not that hard to find people to do digital advertising. But it's insanely hard to find someone who knows and understands the strategy. But InboundCPH understands that," says Imran Afzal.

"Well, we've almost experienced our contacts at InboundCPH as... well, maybe family is a big word, but at least right on the border between colleagues and friends, because our collaboration has been so extremely close and based on trust. And that's just the spirit that shines out of InboundCPH. They are so present and genuine that you can't help but feel good with them personally," he concludes.
