If you want to take care of SEO yourself, you can use a selection of the following tools to streamline your efforts and optimize results. The tools are divided into slightly simplified categories, as many tools have different areas of application.

One of the world's leading and most comprehensive SEO tools. Based on a huge amount of data, SEMrush can give you the insights you need to get the most out of your SEO efforts. SEMrush can give you insight into your visibility on Google, the impact of your content, relevant keywords, inbound links, your ad campaigns and your competitors' strategies.
A complex and versatile SEO tool that we highly recommend. Especially if you want insight into your competitors' Google positions, links, content strength and much more. Especially on the link front, Ahrefs does it well. Ahrefs can quickly give you inspiration and ideas on how you can become even more competitive in terms of both search engine optimization and Google Ads.
A platform for website quality assurance that provides teams with data insights and actionable recommendations to improve content, accessibility, and SEO. Siteimprove is designed for organizations with large numbers of pages and multiple editors.
A combination of four powerful software programs that together help you with all essential parts of the SEO process. SEO PowerSuite includes a program for technical analysis, keyword analysis and link analysis, as well as a highly effective rank tracker that can show your position on Google for an unlimited number of relevant keywords that you enter yourself. Works for both PC and Mac.
A free tool from Google that can provide you with information about problems, issues and opportunities for improvement on your website related to your visibility on Google. You can also gain insight into how visitors find your website and you can submit information about your website to Google to improve Google's indexing of your website.
A great complement to Google PageSpeed Insights. The functionality is largely the same, but the suggested solutions are significantly more detailed. Select "Stockholm, Sweden" under "Test from" for the most accurate results. The free version works quite well. If you purchase a subscription, you can continuously monitor your website's speed, uptime and performance.
An analytics program that can analyze a wide range of technical parameters related to the usability and SEO-friendliness of your website. Among other things, you can get an overview of indexing issues, dead links, duplicate content, Title Tags, Meta Descriptions, H-tags, URLs and redirects. The free version can analyze up to 500 subpages on a domain.
A program that is similar to Website Auditor in many ways. It is slightly more complex and therefore less user-friendly. On the other hand, it also includes the option to test load time, among other things. Like Website Auditor, the program is desktop-based and works on both PC and Mac.
A free tool from Google that analyzes page load speed and user experience on a single page, both on mobile and desktop. The tool is based on Lighthouse and provides a score from 0 to 100, as well as specific suggestions for improvements, ranked by importance. If the page has enough traffic, it also displays data from real users (Core Web Vitals). You’ll also receive scores for accessibility, best practices, and SEO, so it serves as a quick check of mobile-friendliness as well.
A free analysis tool that allows you to test your website for HTML errors. The errors usually don't directly affect your visibility on Google, but they can have a negative impact on the user experience and website load time, and secondarily on Google's rating of your website. Many errors (even if marked in red) are more or less insignificant.
A comprehensive analysis program with an easy-to-use user interface and good educational explanations of all error sources. The program provides solid insight into most on-page seo factors (technique and content), with the exception of load time, where the tool is still deficient (GTmetrix or Pingdom Website Speed Test can be used instead).
A free tool from Google that can give you ideas for keywords and search phrases based on a pre-entered keyword, a product category or a link to your website. You can also get information about the number of monthly searches for each keyword. The tool is free, but to see the exact search volume, you need to have an active Ads campaign.
A Danish commercial keyword tool that can give you ideas for topics to write about based on what people search for. It's a great alternative to Google Keyword Planner, which is especially useful for finding search phrases and questions.
Google's own search function is the simplest tool to get inspiration for relevant keywords and search phrases. When you enter a keyword in the search box, Google simultaneously displays a number of related keywords and search phrases based on what other users have previously searched for. At the bottom of the search page itself, there is also a short overview of related searches. You can't see which searches are the most popular.
A tool where you enter a keyword and get an overview of the questions and search phrases people use related to that topic, including on Google, Bing, and YouTube. This allows you to see which questions your target audience wants answered and write content that is more relevant to them. There’s a free version with a limited number of searches per day, and the tool supports multiple languages, including Danish.
A Danish AI agent that plans, writes, and publishes SEO content directly on your website and can build backlinks automatically. You can approve the content before it goes live. SEO.ai also offers a range of free tools, including those for titles, keywords, and internal linking. There is a 7-day trial period.
Can check if the content on your website is unique or if there is duplicate content elsewhere on the internet. Duplicate content occurs when identical or nearly identical content appears on two or more different URLs and can result in a penalty from Google. The free version can only analyze pages individually. The paid version can analyze up to 10,000 pages at once.
A plugin for WordPress that automatically assesses how well the content on your website is SEO-optimized. Each subpage is assessed individually and the tool then gives you a number of concrete and easy-to-follow suggestions for improvement. Yoast SEO also makes it easy to add a Title Tag and Meta Description to each subpage. The readability assessment is less important (and not always accurate).
An SEO tool created by Google itself that collects data based on Google searches. The program provides a quick and easy overview of the most popular searches right now and can also show popular searches from years ago. The program also shows when (e.g. many searches are seasonal) and where geographically, both nationally and internationally, the most popular searches are.
An SEO tool that provides insights into your competitors' content and knowledge about Google's Search Engine Result Page (SERP). The program analyzes the top 10 for a given Google search and provides insights about text length, images, performance and generally what competitors have on the page - content that your company should also consider to rank higher on Google.
One of the best and most popular link building tools. It can give you insights on how to create new links, how to optimize your existing links and what it takes to achieve a higher position on Google. You can gain valuable insights by analyzing your competitors' link profiles and with Ahrefs Alerts you can be notified when your company is mentioned online.
An expensive link building tool - but money well spent. With LinkResearchTools you get a professional all-in-one link building tool that combines data from 25 different data sources to give you the most accurate and complete data. LinkResearchTools offers a large number of features that give you the best opportunities to improve your link profile.
A popular link building tool that does many of the same things as Ahrefs. You can get an overview of new links, lost links and anchor texts, and of course you can also get an insight into your competitors' links. Majestic SEO is more user-friendly and cheaper than Ahrefs, but it is also more limited in functionality, and the data base is not quite as large and accurate as in Ahrefs.
A link analysis tool from Moz that lets you see who is linking to your website and to your competitors, including new and lost links. It is the successor to Open Site Explorer. You’ll need to create a free Moz account to use it, and the free version has a limited number of searches per month. A Moz Pro subscription provides access to more features. It’s more limited than Ahrefs, but a good free supplement.
A free analytics and reporting tool from Google that can give you insights into visitor behavior on your website. You can see the number of visitors, the number of page views, how visitors found your website and which subpages they visit most often. This allows you to better assess to what extent your SEO efforts are having the desired effect.
A free tag management system from Google that makes it easier for you to manage your tags (including the tracking code for Google Analytics) and enables you to get more useful data from your tags. With Google Tag Manager, you can manage and optimize all your tags via an easy-to-use dashboard, giving you a better data base to evaluate your SEO efforts.
A commercial analytics and reporting tool for larger businesses. The main advantage of Adobe Analytics over Google Analytics is the numerous customization options that allow you to get very specialized data about the users on your website - and at the same time filter out all the data you don't need.
Matomo (formerly Piwik) is a popular alternative to Google Analytics (GA). Following the latest decision regarding GA, there has been a significant increase in interest in alternative analytics tools, and Matomo is a really good option. It even provides a significantly improved data foundation than GA. In short, Matomo is an open-source analytics tool that has been on the market since 2007. It is available in two different versions: cloud-based or hosted on your own servers (on-premise).
A web browser add-on tool that displays a range of SEO information directly in the browser window - in a customized toolbar and below each Google search result. In other words, you're presented with relevant data about each website as you move around the internet. The data includes keyword density, internal and external links, mobile-friendliness, Title Tag and Meta Description.
An Excel extension that gives you access to almost 100 different formula functions that can be used when working with SEO. For example, the functions can check Title Tags and Meta Descriptions and analyze keyword density on the website. Specifically, the tool works by entering a formula function into a cell, after which the cell returns a meaningful text, value or error message.
A popular and simple SEO tool that can give you insight into your current and historical positions on Google for selected keywords. You can also see your competitors' positions and historical development. AccuRanker integrates with Google Analytics and Google Search Console. An affordable and easy-to-use tool that you will quickly become addicted to.
An alternative to AccuRanker - and a popular one at that. And with good reason, as Advanced Web Ranking has a very accurate data set and the data is presented in a user-friendly and easily accessible way. Like AccuRanker, Advanced Web Ranking can be integrated with both Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
