What are dofollow links?
Either way, there's no getting around the fact that links play a big role in SEO. You are therefore wise to work with both link building and outbound links from your website. This means getting external websites to link to you and linking out to external ones - if relevant.
For example, links from websites with less and more authority in the eyes of search engines can be of great value to your website. But there is a big difference between dofollow backlinks and nofollow backlinks as they link to your website.
Conversely, you can also be rewarded by search engines by linking out to external sites. Here it is also relevant to consider whether a dofollow or nofollow link is relevant in the situation in question.
A dofollow link informs the search engines that the link can be followed and this clearly provides the greatest value compared to a nofollow link, which the search engines do not necessarily follow. Read more about nofollow links here and find out why they still matter!
How do I get do-follow backlinks?
In general, you can acquire backlinks in the following ways:
- Buy backlinks
There are several providers where you can Buy backlinks. Note that providers typically have both high and low quality links and the price depends on this. Therefore, you should not necessarily always choose the cheapest! For example, choose links that have high authority and are related to your website. - Earn your backlinks
Do you create good content on your website, for example via a blog post where you give good tips and tricks. If you do this, you have a greater chance of people linking to your website on various forums etc. - Switch to backlinks
For example, you can ask your business partners to link to each other. Just don't link to the same pages you link to and from, as Google will be able to see through such a maneuver. You can also pay a blogger to write a post about one of your products with a link to the product being blogged about.
How do I check if my backlinks are do-follow?
By default, a link is a dofollow link. However, it can be a good idea to check if your backlinks have been changed to nofollow by adding the rel="nofollow" attribute.
For example, if you are in Chrome, you can -> highlight the link you want to investigate -> right-click and select investigate -> notice if the rel="nofollow" attribute has been added.
If you see this, it is no longer a dofollow link.
