What exactly are rich snippets?<\/h2>\n

As mentioned earlier, rich snippets are extra information on Google search results. There are different types of rich snippets, including reviews, product prices, product inventory, cooking time and calories for recipes, events, etc. Below is an example of rich snippets if you search for \"strawberry pie\" on Google:<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Visual<\/p>\n

The top search result includes rich snippets with relevant information such as a review of the recipe, cooking time and calories. The bottom search result is without rich snippets and it is clear to see that the search result with rich snippets is more appealing for the user to click on.<\/span><\/p>\n

The whole idea of rich snippets is that they create more attention in search results, making it easier for you to stand out from the competition - and ultimately, it often results in more clicks to your website as the search result becomes more visually attractive.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who can make use of rich snippets?<\/h2>\n

Rich snippets can be used by all companies, but are especially relevant for companies that sell a product or service. It is also relevant for companies that offer recipes, videos, articles, etc. In these cases, rich snippets can create more awareness and result in more clicks to your website.<\/span><\/p>\n

How do you implement rich snippets?<\/h2>\n

Highlighting relevant information and content from your website in a search result requires the coding of your content page to be structured data so Google can understand the context of your data (you can read much more about structured data <\/span>here<\/a><\/strong>). This way, Google knows that there is some content that can be displayed as rich snippets - however, there is no guarantee that it will be displayed as rich snippets, as this is something Google decides.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to test your structured data, you can use Google's Testing extended results<\/a><\/strong>which provides an overview of what extended results can be generated from the structured data your website contains.<\/p>\n
